1. Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS)
The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a statutory organization established in 1972 by an Act of Parliament (Cap 51:02) of the Laws of Malawi (Amended as Act No 14 of 2012), with a mandate to promote metrology, standardization and quality assurance of commodities and of the manufacture, production, processing or treatment thereof; and further to provide for matters incidental to, or connected with standardization. The MBS is governed by a Board of Directors, the MBS Board, which is appointed by Government. It is responsible for managing the operations of the MBS.
2. Small and Medium Enterprise Development Institute (SMEDI)
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (SMEDI) is a parastatal organization under the Ministry of Trade and Industry and was registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act (Cap 5:3) of the laws of Malawi. SMEDI is a pioneering parastatal institution specializing in the capacity building, training, research and support of SMEs. The business support help to generate employment, strengthen value chains, and develop markets to bring about inclusive growth and improved living conditions of SMEs in Malawi.
